Are your uggs hard to put on? Here’s how to pull them on properly!
Everyone loves a comfortable, flexible pair of Ugg boots. Genuine sheepskin boots - complete with a thick layer of warm, snuggly wool - feel like heaven to wear, especially in the middle of winter.
You can wear them down to the shops, to cosy get-togethers with friends, or even just wandering around the house after a long day. When you wear Ugg boots, you take home comforts with you wherever you go.
However, nothing’s perfect and sometimes Ugg boots are hard to put on. Whether they’re one size too small or the heel doesn’t want to give way, Ugg boots can require a bit of pushing-and-pulling, which can cause damage over time.
If you want to avoid damaging your ugg boots or splitting the material with too much stretching and pulling, you should keep reading. We’ve put together a quick guide to putting on premium sheepskin ugg boots - the right way.
#1. Remember your Ugg boots are held together with a seam around the ankle
Before slipping into a pair of snug, warm ugg boots, it’s important to remember the makeup of a pair of boots.
Ugg boots are designed to be flexible, comfortable and supportive. Otherwise known as “slippers”, Ugg boots are meant to feel like walking on clouds - which means the soft materials, fabric and strategically placed seams make your boots more fragile than, say, a pair of Doc Martens.
You need to be gentle with Ugg boots.
Ugg boots are designed for rough-and-tough wear. Avoid pulling Ugg boots on via the top seam, rim of the boot or pull tags too often - this can cause damage and tears over time.
#2. Place your Ugg boots on the floor and use your body weight to slip into the boots
Most everyday boots have pull tabs to help pull them onto your feet. However, not all Ugg boots have these tags. For example, our Australian Shepherd Sheepskin Wool Short Classic Boots, so they have no pull tags.
The trick to putting on Ugg boots?
Don’t pull them on - place the boots flat on the floor and use your body weight to slide into the boots.
Premium wool and sheepskin Ugg boots should be smooth and simple to slip into. Rather than pulling Ugg boots on via the rim of the boot or pull tags, just drop into them from above, toes first.
If you’re having trouble putting on your Ugg boots, it could mean you’ve chosen the wrong boot size. Before checking out online, make sure to read our blog about Ugg boots sizing - so you can get the right fit the first time!
#3. Troubleshooting the heel problem
If your Ugg boots are on the smaller side, you might have some trouble pushing your heels into your boots. However, it’s important not to force, stretch or pull on your boots too much - forcing the material around your foot can cause unnecessary creases in the fabric and sometimes, even splits!
Before you challenge your boots to a wrestling match, try the following steps:
-
Gently slip your foot into your Ugg boots until your heel meets the ankle seam.
-
Place the sole of the boot on the floor.
-
Hold onto the sides of your Ugg boots via the top seam.
- Gently push your heel into the boot.
As much as possible, avoid smooshing or wriggling your heel into the boot. This can cause major damage to your boots!
Be gentle while putting on your ugg boots to keep them in top shape
Adore your Ugg boots from summer to winter? Treat them with the love and respect they deserve!
Pulling the fabric and seams of your Ugg boots and tassy slippers can cause some serious damage over time, including split seams and rips in the fabric. Plus, wriggling or forcing your heel into small Ugg boots can also cause unattractive creases around the heels - which you certainly can’t iron or flatten out.
If you’re struggling to pull on your Ugg boots and tassy slippers, consider whether they’re the right size for you and remember to use your body weight to gently slip into your boots. By doing this, you can keep your Ugg boots good-as-new for much longer.
